Using AI doesn’t have to mean deconstructing transformers and building LLMs right off the bat. It can—and should—mean using it to make our workday easier.
The AI era has thrown many of us into a whirlwind of questions: Where do I start? How do I keep up? What if I fall behind? But here’s the truth: you don’t need to be a programmer to benefit from AI. The real magic lies in learning how to use it to save time, simplify complexity, and free up your brain for higher-level thinking.
That’s why we launched the Learner Spotlight: to share the stories of professionals who didn’t wait around for AI to “settle down.” They are already using it, right now, to reshape their careers and industries.

Meet Renata Shishovska, Finance Director at SCM Retail Dooel Skopje (Skopje City Mall).
Why did you decide to start learning AI now?
Renata:
“I started learning AI now because it’s already transforming finance and business. As an advocate of CPD, I believe in developing new skills early rather than waiting until they become a necessity.”
What’s the most useful way you’ve already applied AI?
Renata:
“With AI, I reduced procedures and policies drafting from days to hours, automated meeting minutes, sped up research, and turned lengthy reports into concise summaries. This has saved significant time and improved both efficiency and clarity in my work.”
What’s something you’d love to do with AI in the future?
Renata:
“In the future, I’d love to use AI to build predictive financial models and automate complex reporting. To do that, I’ll need to strengthen my skills in data analytics and AI tools for finance.”
What do you think most people get wrong about AI?
Renata:
“A common misconception is that AI will completely replace professionals. I see it differently — AI is a tool that enhances efficiency by handling routine tasks, leaving us time for more strategic work. In finance and business, for example, AI can speed up analysis or draft documents, but it’s the professional who ensures accuracy, applies critical thinking, and makes the final decisions.”
How would you describe AI@Work in one short sentence?
Renata:
“Eye-opening experience with expert presenters!”
Renata’s story captures exactly what AIatWork is about: starting early, applying it in practical ways, and shaping the future of your work—not waiting for it to shape you.
